Language-Oriented Instructions: Spanish
SPAN 3020: Intermediate Spanish Grammar and Composition

Grammar and writing class fully instructed in Spanish. The class reviews and practices key grammatical concepts while requiring presentations and exposure to more advanced readings in Spanish. The class was very beneficial for mastering grammatical concepts as well as putting them to use in essay format.
SPAN 3060: Spanish Composition for Business

This class was fully conducted in Spanish and was centered around business conducted in Spanish speaking countries. The class required the completion of exams, presentations, and group projects. This class allowed for a better understanding of the professional cultures in a variety of different Spanish speaking countries as well as trade agreements.
SPAN 3160: Spanish for International Business I

This class was conducted fully in Spanish while being largely discussion based. There was a large focus on acquiring an expansive vocabulary regarding business and a familiarity with business laws in Spanish speaking countries. There was a semester-long project requiring the invention of a business in a Spanish speaking country. This course was immensely beneficial especially before going abroad.
SPAN 4160: Spanish for International Business II (Argentina)

This class was taken abroad while in Argentina. It was largely centered around the various business customs and practices in Argentina as well as other Latin American countries. I learned a lot about the professional culture in Argentina which aided me in navigating my internship in Argentina.
Culture and Literature Courses
LAIB 4000: Language and International Business Internship (Argentina)

I completed an internship with a software development company as an internal communications intern with the human resources department. This opportunity was extremely positive and allowed me to gain meaningful work experience while improving my Spanish in a professional context.
LANG 3030: Study Abroad (Argentina)

SPAN 3110: Survey of Spanish-American Literature (Argentina)

This course was conducted while I was in Argentina. There was a focus on local authors, popular themes in Argentinian literature, and the various social criticisms found in Argentinian literature. There were essay assignments that reflected each unit that we had to complete. This course allowed me to develop a better understanding of the literature in Argentina and how it differs from that of the USA.
SPAN 3980: Directed Reading (Argentina)

This course was conducted while I was studying abroad in Argentina. It was largely a history based class where we learned about the history of Argentina as well as Latin America as a whole. Students were assessed with regular quizzes and essay assignments. I appreciated that I developed a better understanding of the historical context of Argentina and how it has come to be the country it is.
SPAN 4090: Comprehensive Writing in Spanish (Argentina)

This course was an advanced Spanish grammar and writing class I took abroad. There was a focus on the discussion of complex topics that require a higher degree of fluency. Students completed a research paper as well as participated regularly in assigned class discussion. This class was phenomenal practice for my spoken and written Spanish abilities.
Business Courses (LAIB Majors)
ACCT 2010: Financial Accounting Concepts

This course introduced accounting concepts in a traditional lecture format. There were several large exams. This class established a good foundation of knowledge for accounting.
MATH 1020: Business Calculus 1

This course introduced the introductory materials of business calculus and the ways in which business calculus is applicable to a variety of different business related fields. It was a traditional lecture format that worked alongside a practice book. This course established a strong understanding of calculus and prepared me well for the second business calculus class.
MATH 2020: Business Calculus 2

This class introduced more advanced business calculus concepts as well as required more real world application of the material. The class was a traditional lecture format that heavily utilized collaborative work. This class furthered my understanding of calculus and allowed me to understand its real world relevance to business.
MGT 2010: Principles of Management

This course introduced the fundamentals of management while allowing students to engage in a collaborative semester long project showcasing management in the real world. Each group was assigned a real corporation and assumed a position as an executive in the company. Bi-weekly presentations were conducted to present any news regarding the corporation that had to be tied back to concepts reviewed in class. This class was an incredible experience that allowed me to easily understand the ways in which the concepts discussed in class play out in a real business.
MGT 4230: International Business Management

This course is centered around management on the international scale. This course has a collaborative element through a research project. This course has allowed me to develop an extensive understanding of the various elements one has to take into consideration when conducting business on an international scale.
ECON 2110: Principles of Microeconomics

This course introduced the foundations of microeconomics in a traditional lecture format that included group work as well. This class prepared me very well for the advanced economics courses I took later on.
ECON 2120: Principles of Macroeconomics

This class introduced the fundamentals of macroeconomics. There was a large amount of collaborative work where students were expected to teach certain portions of the material to each other. The collaborative work was extremely beneficial in understanding macroeconomics but also equipped me with an effective study tool.
ECON 3100: International Economics

This course discussed the economics of international trade. The class is a traditional lecture format with the opportunity to complete many example problems. This class has furthered my understanding of the importance of international trade and its subsequent economic effects.
ECON 3440: Property Rights and Institutions

This course is an advanced economics course that discusses the importance of property rights and institutions to economic development and innovation. The class is very interactive and requires students to be well acclimated with the material before attending the class. This class has certainly furthered my understanding of economics as a whole and provided valuable historic context to modern technology.
MKT 3010: Principles of Marketing

This class introduced the concepts of marketing. The class was asynchronous with regular exams. This required me to be very proactive about my learning which subsequently made it so I understood the fundamentals of marketing very well.
MKT 4270: International Marketing

This course introduces the importance of globalization and global markets to marketing. The class has equipped me with an understanding of the global marketplace and preferences around the world.

This course introduces the major while putting students in touch with important resources on campus. I received incredible resume feedback and the establishment of meaningful alumni connections through this class.
PHIL 1010: Intro to Philosophical Problems

This class aims at discussing important, fundamental philosophical concepts and how they apply to a variety of different issues today. This was a paper based class, but I gained valuable perspective regarding the large range of ideas that exist in the context of philosophical thought.
EDHC: Concepts of Human Capital and Development

This course introduced important concepts regarding the development and improvement of human capital or employees. This class heavily pertains to HR concepts. I feel that this class gave me a better understanding of the various ways in which people can learn and improve in their profession.
ENGL 3040: Business Writing

This course establishes the dos and don’ts of formal business writing. This class is very collaborative and requires the student to address different hypothetical scenarios with respect to business writing. This allows for continuous practice. I feel that my writing has become much more concise and professional as a result of this course.
